Emergency Safe Housing
RISE offers female survivors of sexual assault, sexual abuse or intimate partner violence a safe, confidential space to bring their children for healing and recovery.
WHAT IS EMERGENCY SAFE HOUSING?
RISE provides women survivors of intimate partner violence and their children with a safe, confidential space for healing and recovery. Families who live in the shelter receive personalized care and advocacy during their stay. Caring, trained staff members strive to meet every family’s individual needs during times of fear and uncertainty. RISE operates two confidential safe houses located in North San Luis Obispo County.
WHO CAN COME INTO EMERGENCY SAFE HOUSING?
Emergency Safe Housing is available for women and their children who are seeking safety and leaving an abusive relationship. Though our safe houses are not open to men, RISE will work with male victims who need safe housing through hotel stays and support accessing other emergency shelter providers for men. Advocates evaluate each person’s unique circumstances to determine whether the survivor is eligible to stay in the safe house. Referrals and case management are offered to every victim, even those who do not stay in the safe house. Services are available to all survivors, without regard to race, color, national origin, sexual orientation, age, or disability.
I NEED SHELTER, WHAT IS THE FIRST STEP?
Call the 24-hour toll-free crisis line at 855-886-RISE (7473) to speak with an advocate. The advocate will ask some questions to begin the process of determining if emergency shelter is a good fit for you at this time. All calls are confidential.
WHAT HAPPENS IN THE SAFE HOUSE?
During their stay at a RISE safe house, residents have the opportunity to develop a plan to help them recover and achieve self-sufficiency. Services available to residents include counseling, case management, legal advocacy, and provision of basic human needs like food and clothing.
HOW LONG CAN I STAY?
Residents can stay in emergency safe house for a maximum of 90 days; however, each person’s stay is tailored to their specific needs, so stays may be adjusted accordingly.
